Faculty Senate Discussion

Corporatization? Fiscal Health? CEO is responsible.

The fiscal well-being of any institution, universities included, is the responsibility of the Chief Executive Officer of that institution. Fiscal well-being can be gained both by cost reduction AND by income increases. Clearly our president is not upholding his responsibility during the state funding cuts. Where is the external fund raising that would make up the shortfall? Why is the president not out raising more money? Karen Holbrook, a favorite administrator at UF more than a decade ago, became president of Ohio State. She was asked to leave after a few years because she was not raising as much money as their Board of Trustees would have liked. When will UF get a president who can raise the money to run the institution properly?
