Truly transparent financial data needed

If the Administration is truly interested in hearing thoughtful proposals to address the deficit, it should make available all relevant financial data. Much more transparency is needed than we saw on the President’s budget-proposal website, where most proposals were presented so vaguely as to defy any critical analysis, begging more questions than they answered.

UF’s complete budget, and its assets and revenues, should be posted to a public website, in an easily searchable format from which aggregate data by user-chosen category can be quickly obtained. Clearly these data exist; else how could the Administration have developed its own proposals?

Unless all this information is posted publicly, and soon, how can the faculty take seriously the Administration’s assertion that proposals other than its own are welcome?
